Cook mode and Smart cook
Cook mode
Open any recipe and tap “Start cooking” to move into a step-by-step view built for a hands-dirty kitchen. Ingredient amounts are scaled to your serving size and shown right inside the step text, and steps with a duration (like “simmer for 10 minutes”) get their own countdown timer automatically.
When you finish, you’ll land on a short wrap-up: rate the dish, add a note for next time, and that’s what actually logs the cook and grows Pip. Nothing is saved until this step.
Smart cook
Cooking two or three dishes back to back on the same night? Smart cook merges the open dishes on your plan for that week into a single combined session, interleaving steps so passive time (like something baking or simmering) overlaps with active steps on another dish instead of wasting it.
Advance prep like an overnight marinade is called out separately and never counts toward the session’s total time, since it happens well before you’re actually in the kitchen.
